The Santa Barbara Airport is constructing a rental car maintenance facility on a 3.4 acre site off Holllister Avenue at 25 David Love Place. The rental car facility was designed to meet Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) requirements that include water efficiency, indoor environment quality, solid waste reduction, solar applications, and the use of green building materials.

The Aviation Facilities Plan (AFP) covers the part of the Airport which focuses on air transportation activities. The improvements include an Airline Terminal Improvement Project which would add 50,000 sq. ft. to the existing Terminal; the addition of FAA required Safety Overrun Areas at each end of the main runway; and shifting the Main Runway 800 ft. to the west to accommodate the safety overrun areas.
